Although the EO related work within Australia is mainly confined to the clearance of former Department of Defence ranges and training areas, the threat elsewhere in SE Asia includes the full spectrum of ordnance tasks, and involves post conflict and humanitarian clearance operations as well as EOD and IEDD. Recent projects include non-intrusive survey, target investigation, marine survey, and disposal of stockpiled munitions, minefield clearance and range clearances.
BACTEC has a strong geophysical element to carry out non-intrusive survey using magnetometers, EM instrumentation as well as ground penetrating radar. Intrusive survey for deep buried UXO is carried out using proprietary instrumentation and software developed by the parent company.
Where required, BACTEC SE Asia will deploy state of the art multi-sensor arrays, to carry out non-intrusive surveys of marine environments such as harbours, oil/gas exploration sites, beach clearances, etc. The survey not only identifies objects that could be ordnance and will require investigation, but also identifies features that could adversely impact on construction work.
