BACTEC International was awarded Phase 4 of the Falkland Island's Demining and Land Release Project, from the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO); having been involved in Phases 1-3 between 2009-13.

There were a number of familiar faces in the BACTEC team who deployed in January; 63 Zimbabweans de-miners, 20% of whom participated in Phase 3 in 2013 and a number of key EOD UK technical staffs who have worked on the project previously. The de-mining work will be conducted within the Falklands summer months, as the work is particularly vulnerable to wet and cool conditions of the Falklands winter. The first period of Phase 4 will operate between January and April 2015; the second period will begin in September 2015, through to completion of the contract.
