Mine Action

BACTEC is an established major, post conflict and Mine Action Company, undertaking significant projects for UK and overseas governments, the UN, EC, international oil/gas and construction companies; also working with local and national organisations and companies.

BACTEC has been directly involved in the clearance of more than 500,000 landmines and thousands of tons of unexploded ordnance. The Company has cleared or verified as ordnance free in excess of 8,000,000 square metres of previously ordnance contaminated or suspect land in over 40 countries.

It is BACTEC's policy to involve the local community and personnel wherever possible in the clearance projects. For each project, BACTEC is able to deploy the following assets on a case by case basis:

  • Full project management support
  • Manual Clearance Teams (MCT)
  • Mine Detection Dog teams (MDD)
  • Mechanical systems (MECH)

All operations are carried out in accordance with:

  • International Mine Action Standards (IMAS)
  • Country specific Technical and Safety Guidelines (TSG)
  • BACTEC Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs)
  • Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA)
